This course will provide you with techniques that you can use through pregnancy, birth and beyond, but it will also provide you with the information to understand your options so you can make informed decisions. I always say that it is hard to stay calm in labour when you don’t know what to expect, what your body is doing or the ways in which you can support your body to labour more effectively.
This course is not just the hypnobirthing techniques – it combines research, evidence based information and all of my little tricks that I have used as a midwife caring for women in labour.
You will also receive access to..
6 x Guided Meditation mp3s to reduce fear and build confidence for birth
Access to our Online Hypnobirthing Course so you can refresh any techniques in the lead up to your birth.

I know firsthand the impact that this course can have
In 2022 I welcomed my first baby and got to put the techniques into practice myself. I had an incredible birth which truly was the best day of my life. My labour was quick, free of medical intervention or drugs, and birthed my big 5kg baby completely naturally.
My partner was across all of the techniques and was an incredible support person (and yes - we worked through the online course together while I was pregnant so he was well prepared!)
Having these tools played a huge role in the arrival of our baby boy and achieving the birth that we had dreamed of. This made me even more excited to continue sharing this course with families as I now know firsthand the impact it can have.

This course is perfect for you if...
-
You want to have a natural, low-intervention birth but don't really know how you're going to achieve this.
-
You are worried about the pain and how you will manage.
-
You've been struggling with fear and anxiety about birth, and you don't know how to manage these feelings.
-
You want more from your Antenatal Classes than just the standard hospital program, which frankly is often more an an 'orientation to their policies and procedures' than actual preparation for managing labour and birth.
-
You want to learn hypnosis relaxation techniques for birth, but also want to have lots of other tools and techniques that you can use.
-
You want your birth partner to feel included, and for them to know how to best support you during your labour and birth.
FAQs
When should I begin the course?
I recommend completing your group course between 24-34 weeks of pregnancy to allow plenty of time to practice the tools for your birth. If you are further along feel free to get in touch to discuss options.
How much time will it take each week to practice the techniques?
I know you are busy so rest assured you don't need to find hours in your week to practice these techniques after the course. I recommend setting aside just 3–5 minutes a day to practice the relaxation and mindset techniques as you prepare for birth.
Is it just for women wanting a 'natural birth'?
Our group courses have a strong focus on physiological birth and supporting you to achieve this, however I include information on common interventions like epidurals, inductions and cesarean birth because these things don't mean a positive birth has to go out the window! If you are hoping for a low intervention birth but would like to be prepared for different scenarios then our group course is perfect for you! If you are planning a caesarean birth or an epidural we absolutely support all birth choices at Held Midwifery, and would recommend a private course instead of the group.
Why hypnosis - isn't that a bit weird?
The hypnosis that we use is all self-hypnosis, so not at all scary! There are no swinging watches here - hypnosis is just a state of mind where we are very relaxed and focussed, which is exactly the state that we want to be in for our birth. The techniques that I teach will help you to easily get into this relaxed state of mind. No prior meditation/hypnotherapy experience is required.
This is my 2nd, 3rd, 4th baby - is the course still suitable?
You are more than welcome to join a group course if you have birthed before, however please know that the group course is tailored for first time parents so you may find some of the information you are already aware of. If you have given birth before I generally recommend our online course + private session to debrief your last birth experience, answer any questions and to be able to provide tailored advice and recommendations for your upcoming birth. Feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss which course option would be best suited to you.
Are private health rebates available?
Yes private health rebates apply with most finds depending on your level of cover.
Does this course cover breastfeeding education?
While we do cover the immediate postpartum period and first breastfeed in this course, for comprehensive breastfeeding education we recommend booking an Antenatal Lactation Consultation with Hannah or Nerissa - medicare rebates apply on these sessions which means minimal gap payment for you!
