The Hypnobirthing Australia™ course is a childbirth education program which teaches women and their birth partners techniques and a mindset that supports them to have a positive birth experience. The program incorporates teachings from many respected pregnancy and birth experts, along with hypnotherapy techniques to provide a comprehensive and up to date childbirth education program. As a midwife I have worked with many women during their birth, and have seen firsthand the impact that a positive birth experience can have on women and their families. Hypnobirthing can help you to have an amazing birth experience, whatever turn your birth takes!

Hypnobirthing is not just for women wanting a natural birth -  I really believe it can help ANY couple preparing for the birth of their baby. We promote POSITIVE birth and couples are well prepared to handle any path their birth may take. Chances are, their birth will be natural, but throughout the course is it emphasised that the techniques will work in any scenario.

A course with Hannah is perfect for you if...

  • You want to have a natural, low-intervention birth but don't really know how you're going to achieve this.

  • You are worried about the pain and how you will manage.

  • You've been struggling with fear and anxiety about birth, and you don't know how to manage these feelings.

  • You want more from your Antenatal Classes than just the standard hospital program, which frankly is often more an an 'orientation to their policies and procedures' than actual preparation for managing labour and birth.

  • You want your birth partner to feel included, and for them to know how to best support you during your labour and birth.

Each couple receives a parent resource folio and hypnobirthing mp3 downloads that can be used during pregnancy and birth. The parent folio is frequently referred to within the course, and provides many practical resources that can be referred to during birth. Parents also have access to our online learning platform which provides extra video training, birth plan templates plus lots more!

The hypnosis part of hypnobirthing uses hypnotherapy techniques to let go of any fears that we may have about birth, and is also used to condition ourselves to release endorphins during labour. These techniques also allow women to reach a deep state of relaxation, which allows their body to open up without any resistance, and for their natural endorphins to be released.

During your hypnobirth you will not be in a trance or asleep. You may look like you are asleep but you will actually be in a heightened state of awareness – awake, but incredibly relaxed. The Hypnobirthing Australia™ program uses self hypnosis techniques, and you are always completely in control and able to come out of hypnosis at any time if required.

Although hypnobirthing may sound a little ‘hippy’, it really is an incredibly down to earth program that can benefit women from all walks of life.

When is the best time to attend Hypnobirthing classes?

The answer is anytime! However the ideal time is between 20 and 30 weeks of pregnancy. This allows you to have enough time to practice the techniques, but also means that the course is still fresh in your mind. If you are further along than this please contact us to discuss options which may be more suitable for you.

Should my partner attend?

Bring yourself and your partner/birth support. Our courses very much involve the partner, and their love and support can be a very important part of your birth experience. Your birth partner may be your partner, friend, sister, mother or anyone who you feel will best support you during your pregnancy and birth. You are also most welcome to attend classes solo if you prefer.

What if I am planning a Caesarean birth? Can I still use hypnobirthing?

Absolutely! Hypnobirthing can absolutely be used with a Caesarean birth. Please contact me for more information.
